In our Active Transitional Program, children and adolescents are engaged in highly individualized treatment that is aggressive and focused on advancing through the various stages of brain injury recovery. Core therapies (e.g., occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech and language pathology) are rigorously pursued with an interdisciplinary approach. To increase independence and expedite recovery, individual therapies are supplemented with group sessions, home programs and community reintegration activities. The intense pace of the Active Transitional Program calls for frequent progress reporting, ongoing care plan review and revision, and regular contact with physicians.

The goal of this program is to progress individuals as quickly as possible to their highest functional ability and, whenever possible, to return them to their own homes either independently or with support.
